Show Your Support! Our Chance, Our Choice: The Future of Downtown Nyack

We, the undersigned, support the initiative to build a new performing arts center on Main Street in downtown Nyack. The new Riverspace will be funded by a moderately-scaled retail and residential green development whose profits will go to the construction and ongoing support of the new performing arts center. The downtown project is an unprecedented opportunity to create a vital, beautiful and prosperous center in the heart of Nyack and Rockland County. Sign Here

Riverspace Meets With Our Neighbors at Nyack Senior Center

"I've lived here forty years and I want to see this beautiful dream come true in my lifetime."

That's what Domingo Marrero said after learning about Riverspace’s proposal for a new theater and redevelopment of Nyack’s Main Street. Mr. Marrero, age 87, was one of more than 30 seniors who responded enthusiastically to our presentation at the Nyack Senior Center. In 1969, Mr. Marrero was the first person to move into Tallman Towers. He thinks the proposal would be the most positive change to come to Nyack in his four decades here.

The seniors were excited about the new theater, particularly the idea of a rooftop restaurant allowing for an evening out in one place. For those who are mobile, the added services and shopping were appealing. Several seniors helped us brainstorm about how to make the development senior-friendly, including more plays, matinees, outreach entertainment and shuttle services at night.

Riverspace is committed to working with the Nyack Senior Center, the residents of Nyack Plaza, the Village Board, and all our neighbors to revitalize downtown Nyack and improve the quality of life in our home Village. Please contact Julian Palmer at jpalmer@riverspace.org or (845) 348-0741 to learn more about how you can be involved in making “our beautiful dream come true.”

This weekend the theater was full of laughing, singing, and the voices of children. Kids in jammies came to a Pajama Party with Bossy Frog and little Jane and Michael Banks look-alikes chanted Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious at the Mary Poppins sing along to benefit Rockland County Day School. Our next Family Program is a Milk 'N Cookies Playhouse with Mime Craig Babcock on April 25th at 10:30AM.
