THANK YOU to all who helped to make our first Riverspace auction benefit such a big success. We raised over $50,000 for Riverspace in one night! We still have a long way to go to meet our spring fundraising goals but we’re a big step closer. As event co-honoree Jeffrey Friedberg said, "It's time to move from 'believing in Riverspace' to 'acting on our beliefs' and giving resources to make Riverspace a long-term reality." Special recognition goes to Event Chair ANNETTE JAMES, auction organizer RACHEL MACK, and to many others who did so much to make the event work so well.

Upbeat Classical Music for the Whole Family

Nyack’s own Joe Alessi brings the Principal Brass of the New York Philharmonic to our hometown. Performing for the first time on-stage in Rockland County, the quintet will play standards and familiar favorites (“The Thieving Magpie Overture” by Rossini, “Take Five”, “New York, New York”). Bring the whole family to this lively one hour concert.

Featuring:
Philip Smith, Trumpet
Matthew Muckey, Trumpet
Philip Myers, French Horn
Joseph Alessi, Trombone
Alan Baer, Tuba

A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to Nyack's Soup Angels. We also ask that you bring a can of non-perishable food to go to their cause. Buy Tickets.

Nyack Plaza Meeting

Riverspace representatives visited with tenants at Nyack Plaza on May 13. Our host was Dot Harris, President of the local Tenants Association. We had a lively conversation and most of the residents expressed enthusiasm for the downtown project. They particularly liked the idea of bringing back more stores and services so seniors can do their shopping locally in Nyack. We look forward to ongoing dialogue with our neighbors to ensure that the downtown project serves our entire community.

If you would like to be a part of the continuing conversation, let us know!

Seventeen films made by students from twelve local schools were shown to an audience of 250 at Riverspace on May 13. The student films ranged from thirty seconds to eight minutes in length and included animation, documentary, narrative, and music videos. The Festival was part of the Wednesday Night at the Movies series sponsored by Rivertown Films and Riverspace. It included an exhibition of film equipment in the Riverspace lobby. Thank you to the Arts Council of Rockland and Orange & Rockland Utilities for sponsoring the event.

Thank You Myles Aronowitz and Lisa Levart!

Of all the hundreds of volunteers who have helped Riverspace, two uniquely gifted visual artists stand out for their remarkable contributions to telling our story. Myles Aronowitz and Lisa Levart have visually narrated Riverspace’s development through thousands of powerful and poetic photographs capturing a diverse range of performing artists, theater-goers, and community members. Most of the striking images you see on the Riverspace web site and in our publications come through their lenses. The Board and staff of Riverspace are very grateful to Myles and Lisa for their outstanding work and look forward to seeing much more of their artistry. More of their work can be seen at www.lushphotography.com.
