Well, the rain stayed away Friday night just long enough for our unveiling of the "Half Moon” and the kick-off of Artwalk. We were joined by over 100 community members for a dessert reception
and the official unveiling of Nyack's own John Beerman's "Half Moon". Rockland County Legislator Chair, Harriet Cornell was on hand to speak about the momentous occasion of the quadricentennial
and literally unveil the painting. Mark Sabin of American Heritage Rivers Alliance, which arranged for the painting to be presented to President Barack Obama later this fall, was also in
attendance. We are still selling prints of the "Half Moon" for $1609 or smaller canvass prints for $180. A portion of the proceeds will support Riverspace. For more information please call
the Box Office at 845.348.1880.
Great Weekend of Programming!

You didn't really have to be a mind reader to know what a great weekend we had planned at Riverspace. Saturday featured the return of multiple Grammy Award Winning violinist and composer
Mark O'Connor. The concert opened with the debut of THE HUDSON VOICES, a subsidiary of The Rockland County Chorale Society. Mr. O'Connor and friends then followed with a variety of works
including Mark's String Quartet No. 3, commissioned by the Hudson River Quadricentennial Music Project. This work was played in front of a back drop of a painting created by Nyack's own
John Beerman, who was in attendance at the concert. The whole evening was moving and beautiful. Special thanks to the Comfort Inn-Regency Conference Center and Ballroom for sponsoring.
Then, on Sunday, The Amazing Kreskin blew everyone away! At 74, this showman was full life, stories and surprises. He seemingly, among other amazements, read
people's minds and correctly guessed what playing cards people had in their pockets. His signature closer was to have the audience hide his paycheck. Unfortunately for Riverspace's fundraising
efforts, after some false starts, he found the check. Darn! But a great time was had by all. Thanks to Tandem Graphics for sponsoring the event!
Hook Mountain Boys visit Nyack Senior Center
Jeffrey Friedberg and The Hook Mountain Boys gave a rousing free concert on behalf of Riverspace at the Nyack Senior Center on June 17. Their performance ranged from traditional
bluegrass music by Bill Monroe ("Body and Soul") to bluegrass versions of songs by Chuck Berry ("Memphis") and Irving Berlin ("God Bless America"). A great time was had by all as
dozens of seniors clapped along and some even hit the dance floor! Thank you Hook Moutain Boys: Jeffrey Friedberg, Brian Aherne, Doug Allen and Jeffrie Lane.
