Despite tremendous efforts and the contributions of our many generous supporters, Riverspace did not reach its June 30 fundraising goal of $500k.
Faced with limited resources and a tough economic climate, the board of Riverspace is forced to scale back programming and operations at the theater.
Our summer programs are continuing as planned, including the Helen Hayes Youth Theater Productions, movies and more. However, most regular Riverspace programs beyond the summer must be
suspended until substantial funding can be secured for ongoing operations.
Taking this step now will enable us to retain our lease on the property through the rest of the year, while an exciting partnership with the Nyack Village Board takes shape that includes
a vigorous campaign for federal and state funding. Meanwhile, we’re pursuing alternate income opportunities to help defray the overhead. We’re also actively looking for leaders in the community
to join these efforts.
Riverspace remains committed to pursuing the vision of a sustainable arts center as the centerpiece of an economic green development that will revitalize our downtown, nourish our community
and make Nyack the jewel of the lower Hudson Valley.
As always, thank you to all Riverspace members, friends and neighbors for your continuing support, your volunteer hours and shared desire to work towards a better future for our hometown.
Stay Involved. We’ll keep you posted. The show must go on!
