Nyack Village Board Backs Downtown Redevelopment!
In a big step for Riverspace's future plans, the Nyack Village Board voted to move forward with downtown redevelopment at their April 23 meeting. The 3-2 vote authorized a request for proposals (RFP) to redevelop our theater’s home block (from Cedar to Franklin Street, including the parking lot) and to create a citizen's committee to set guidelines for the redevelopment. Riverspace will now be able to submit a formal proposal to build a new cultural center, to be supported by income from the new retail and residential properties included in the redevelopment.
Thank you to all the supporters who stood up for Riverspace at the Village Board meeting. Special thanks to County Legislative Leader Harriet Cornell, Orangetown Supervisor Thom Kleiner and Nyack NAACP President Frances Pratt for their eloquent speeches on behalf of Riverspace and the downtown project. |
