It is our aspiration at Riverspace to add educational value to all of our programming whenever possible.  We offer workshops, master classes, interactive children’s events, and school field trips as well as internships and scholarships, striving at all times both to entertain and instruct.

• Our educational efforts include the following:
   
  • To engage the youngest of our audiences, we offer high-quality interactive children’s programs on a regular basis. 
  • We include question and answer sessions during our documentary screenings. 
  • We offer community service work for high school students who work to broaden the audience base throughout the region with a focus on outreach in the community.
  • School-time productions are another valuable offering.  We select programs responsive to the needs and requirements of the schools, working together with teachers and parents to provide the best field trip experience for children in the region.

Educational workshops taught by professionals are another important program at Riverspace.  We offer eight-week workshops with local area professionals that culminate in final-session recitals that are open to family and friends.  These workshops and master classes allow students of all ages to work with inspired professionals.  We also create opportunities specifically for young people to perform with seasoned artists.  We offer blues, rock and roll music, dance, and art workshops to young students in the area.  Young musicians, poets, actors and stagehands can also gain valuable experience at Riverspace, either on stage or behind the scenes.  Finally, we have scholarships available through local foundation grants, thereby helping to subsidize these programs and making them affordable to all.

In addition, we have an internship program available in many areas related to the cultural arts experience.  We seek interns who work in the production and technical areas, video recording and editing, web development, marketing, graphics, box office, concession, scheduling and more.   We are able to give our interns the opportunity to build real world arts experience for both personal growth and professional career development.

Our audiences often mix generations, bringing families together to enjoy the many benefits and pleasures of experiencing art.  At every level of our organization, the educational component is an integral part of the Riverspace initiative.
